Multi-component recycled content reporting

I have a product which comprises 92% stainless steel and 8% core material. The recycled content of the stainless steel is: 76% post-consumer and 15% pre-consumer. The recycled content of the core material is: 9% post-consumer and 9% pre-consumer. Should the values for the stainless steel and the core material be reported as separate units on the BPDO calculator or report the calculated total values for all recycled materials that comprise the product?

For example: Total product cost: $1000 Stainless steel value ($1,000 x 92% = $920) Core material value ($1,000 x 8% = $80)

Recycled content value of stainless steel: ($920 x 76% post-consumer = $699.20) plus ($920 x 15% Pre-consumer = $138 /.5 = $69) for a total of $699.20 + $69 = $768.20

Recycled content value of core material: ($80 x 9% post-consumer = $7.20) plus ($80 x 9% Pre-consumer = $7.20/.5 = $3.60) for a total of $10.80

Total Post-consumer recycled content value = (Stainless + core material) = $706.40

Total Pre-consumer recycled content value = (Stainless _ core material) = $72.60

How do you report the percentages on the BPDO calculator to reflect the values noted in the example? There does not appear to be a way to report a percentage of a percentage (ie. 76% of the 92% stainless steel content).

The BPSP Calculator only has one entry for recycled content percentage per "product" in each row; in other words per product.  If the product you describe is something that is sold/delivered/installed as the steel + core material combined, then it's one single product for documentation purposes. Therefore you must calculate the overall adjusted recycled content percentage of the total product (steel + core) as a weighted average  of pre- and post-consumer recycled content with the appropriate 0.5 and 1.0x multipliers, respectfully. Then, when you enter the product into the Calculator, you select "recycled content" under sustainability attributes for the product, and then enter the total adjusted recycled content percentage into the column with "recycled content" in the header. That should apply the correct multiplier to the product.
