NC-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Monitoring - Mechanically ventilated spaces

Hello, I have a system in a hotel that has a constant air volume system of crca 550 l/s and I am not sure how to correspond to the requierement of LEED:

  • "For constant-volume systems, balance outdoor airflow to the design minimum outdoor airflow rate defined by ASHRAE Standard 62.1–2010 (with errata), or higher. Install a current transducer on the supply fan, an airflow switch, or similar monitoring device."

Would hey-card control and CO2 sensor comply with this requierement? Or what kind of monitoring is expected of me in such cases. The project is Located in Europe, and all the products and design is compliant with local regulation.

Hi Anna, I documented the strategy that you just mentioned and it was declined by the reviewer. A CO2 sensor that modulates the outdoor air damper does not meet the prerequisite requirement (according to the reviewer). I hope this helps,

Hi Gustavo, How did you justify the monitoring requirement? Which type of device did you install? Thanks

Hi Anna and Gustavo, Can you please share us on how did you comply with the monitoring requirement? I am interested to explore for several options. Currently we are designing the fresh air system for hotel rooms. Our approcah is using CO2 sensor with blinking alarm during NV mode when the windows are open. But during AC mode, a pre-cool constant volume fan is designated to supply fresh air for each room. The fan capacity is less than 1000 cfm, so the monitoring system no longer required (please check LEED Interpretation 10461 for fresh air monitoring requirement for small fan capacity). Cheers, Iqbal Khalilullah
