Moderation rule requirements for the BITuser Forum

Hi all,

BG WebDev needs to clarify the Forum comment moderation rules you would like us to put in place.  We do not require moderation for premium users in our LEEDuser forum unless they include a link in their submitted topic or comment. In this case, we hold the publication of the comment in moderation until we can make sure the link is ok to post.

All BITuser users will be premium (paid) users. Are there any moderation rules you would like us to implement, similar to the example explained above?

You rely on LEEDuser. Can we rely on you?

LEEDuser is supported by our premium members, not by advertisers.

Hi Angela, Can you give us a rough sense of how much work (e.g., hours per week?) it takes to perform the moderation of links for LEEDuser premium users? It seems like a good strategy to do that type of check, but I think it will likely fall to Southface to do such moderation (right?), so it will be important to get a handle on the level of effort.

Hi Jenny, The person who moderates LEEDuser comments isn't here today. I will speak with her tomorrow to get a sense, so I can answer your questions. Thanks for getting back to me.

Hi again, Jenny, I spoke with our staff member who moderates the LEEDuser forum. She said, on average, link moderation takes about an hour a week. Very little time.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

As long as the forum will be open only to registered BIT users, I’d suggest not having any moderation initially. It adds an extra step, and causes a delay in the release of any post with a link. If abuse turns out to be an issue, you can always turn it on later.

I think Nadav's suggestion to go without moderation to start is sensible, and then revisit if needed. Shane - does that make sense to you? Or, is an hour a week a small enough lift to justify the moderation step?

Let’s go without it for now. As long as we can intervene in posts as required, I think we’re good unless the need for moderation becomes regular. Thanks. M. Shane Totten, AIA, LEED AP BD+C Program Director, Research + Incubation office: 404.604.3588 Fro
