Hi All,

We are modeling an industrial plant including the plant DES system, pursuing the Option 1, Path 2. Full DES Performance Accounting.

For the proposed building a detailed model of the DES plant is going to created.

I would like to consult/clarify my understanding of the DES approach for the baseline. The LEEDv4 manual (p. 364) states that:

Model the baseline case with an on-site plant that is compliant with ASHRAE 90.1–2010, Appendix G, baseline requirements for site-generated thermal energy. Model the baseline building plant with conventional equipment using performance parameters and efficiencies per ASHRAE 90.1–2010, using energy sources corresponding to the DES.

I interpret this that for the baseline heating/cooling:
- the heating & cooling sources remains as per tables G3.1.1A / G3.1.1B (i.e. as if there wasn't any DES at all).
- Choice of the energy source (i.e. system 7 Vs system 8) is then governed by the primary source of the proposed DES (again, similarly as if there was no DES at all).

Given that we are pursuing the Path 2. Full DES Performance Accounting and not Path 1. ASHRAE 90.1–2010, Appendix G (purchased energy), sections G3.1.1.2 up to G3.1.1.3.3 (adaptation of systems specified in tables G3.1.1A / G3.1.1B) don't apply here.

Is that correct?

Thank you for your sharing your thoughts/experience
