Project Type: LEED ID+C (CI) Version 4

Energy & Atmosphere, EAp2: Minimum Energy Performance & EA Credit: Optimize Energy Performance

Option 1 - Tenant Level Energy Simulation.

Description: The project scope is tenant improvement in two floors of an existing 23 story high rise building. There are no addition or alteration to existing building envelop. The building is served by a water cooled chilled water system, including water cooled chillers, pumps, and cooling towers. The entire chilled water system is located within the building itself and outside the LEED project boundary. The chilled water system only serves the building itself.

Question #1: Baseline building envelope construction.

Which of the following should be used for baseline building envelope (wall assembly type, u-values for walls/windows, SGHC for windows):

  1. Walls u-values and windows u-values and SGHC per Tables 5.5-1 through 5.5-8 of ASHRAE 90.1, 2010 (as new construction).
  2. Existing envelop construction: Existing wall assembly type, u-values for existing walls/windows and SGHC for existing windows.

If the answer is item (b), can item (a) be used in conjunction with LEED interpretation 10454?

Question #2: Window-to-wall ratio for baseline building envelope.

The window-to-wall ration of the existing building envelope is approximately 60%. Which of the following should be used for window-to-all ratio of the baseline building envelope:

  1. 40%, per Table G3.1-5 Baseline (c) of ASHRAE 90.1, 2010.
  2. 60%, to match window-to-wall ration of the existing building envelope.

If the answer is item (b), can item (a) be used in conjunction with LEED interpretation 10454?

Question #3: Path 1 – Purchased Energy

Each of the two floors in the project scope has a chilled water air handling unit serving the floor and a water source heat pump serving the Telecom Room. The water source heat pump is connected to the condenser water loop.

Can purchased energy (Path 1) be used for both the air handling units and the water source heat pumps?

Also, if there are no energy rates available for both chilled and condenser water, can the chilled water virtual energy rated provided in the reference guide correction 100002152 be used for both chilled and condenser water?
