Mixed-mode ventilation

Hi,

We are working on a project which should have mixed-mode systems for ventilation. What we would like to know is how we should be estimating the fresh air rates for the Baseline model? Should we follow the same procedure as for every project (ASHRAE 62.1-2010 and/or local code)? Or do we need to assume natural ventilation for the Baseline model?

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Nikos

When the systems are operating with mechanical ventilation, the requirements of Section G3.1.2.6 apply (Proposed ventilation modeled as designed and Baseline ventilation modeled using ASHRAE 62.1-2010/local code minimums). When the Proposed is modeled with natural ventilation, the Baseline would be as well with identical rates to the Proposed. Any additional savings associated with natural ventilation and/or natural conditioning must be documented using an Exceptional Calculation.
