I am wondering if I am alone in this.. On each LEED Project, I waste a lot of time to enter data in the Excel Performance Calculator. In a lot of cells, after entering the data, I am waiting about 30 seconds while the document is frozen, before I can continue. Apart from the actual waiting time, this breaks up the workflow and makes is very inefficient.
Furthermore, there are some problems with the document.
- Some cells are protected from writing, though they shouldn't be.
- if one makes a copy/paste mistake, undo is not (always) possible. Worst case, this makes some follow up calculations incorrect and results in unnecessary quality remarks.
- I often paste data as values, so I can enter multiple cells at the same time, for example in the performance outputs. However, I have noticed that some cells receive the data, but the values are not used in further calculations. I then have to track down the cell that is not "taken" and re-enter the value.
It would help a lot, if there were some sort of IT support. One could submit the file, indicate which cell is the problem and receive the debugged file back.
This document should help us make better buildings.. it seems important that is runs smoothly.
