NC-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Minimum Airquality Performance Mechanical Ventilation of Staircase and Elevator Landing

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for your attention and support.
I am following the design of a manufacturing building, inside the building there are two pressurized elevator and stariwell compartments.
This compartments are "closed", no rooms open straight into this space but they open to corridors.
According to Ashrae 62.10 I am providing mechanical ventilation to corridors, but system design team has trouble in providing mechanical ventilation "inside" the elevator and staircase pressurized "tower" to the landing.
On this topic I found on the Internet the following definition:
"Spaces such as mechanical rooms, stairwells, elevator shafts, and janitor closets are not considered occupiable spaces and therefore are not required to meet the ventilation requirements of Section 6."
— ASHRAE 62.1-2010 User’s Manual, Section 3 (Definitions).
In my case, since the stairs and the elevators are compartmentalized and essentially closed, I was thinking to exclude them from Ashrae verification.
Have you had any similar situation?

Thanks again for your support
Francesco
