Hi All,
We have a middle school project that has 2, internal waiting rooms for students; one is for waiting to go into the school clinic and one is for waiting to go into the hearing/ eyesight testing rooms. Does anyone have experience or advice on whether or not these need to be included in the multi-occupant areas for this credit? The matrix includes Waiting rooms in Healthcare facilities as a "yes," but Lobbies in Offices, Post Offices, and Banks as no...
Thanks!

Hi Sara,
I think you've hit on a grey zone where you could make a case either way as long as you wrote a strong narrative.
Multi-occupant generally makes sense but you could also see a case for excluding these spaces. They are required to be included for health care because the USGBC knows how much those waiting room spaces are used. How much are these middle school waiting rooms used? What does your gut say in terms of the approach needed to meet the intent of the credit?
Sorry I could not provide a more definitive answer.
