The CBE Thermal Comfort Tool LEED allows for analysis of this credit has been updated to ASHRAE Standard 55-2020. Per ASHRAE Standard 55-2020, metabolic rates below 1.0 and above 2.0 are not covered by this Standard.
can we exclude rooms where the metabolic rate is below 1.0 or above 2.0 from the credit requirements?

Hi David,
Is there any occupied space/room with metabolic rate below 1.0 or above 2.0 in your project? This thermal comfort design credit only applies to occupied space (even only regularly occupied space if your building is a data center).
LEED BD+C v4 states one of the required documentation for thermal comfort design is plots or calculation results verifying that design parameters meet ASHRAE Standard 55-2010 for 80% acceptability (e.g. psychrometric chart, PMV or PPD calculation, ASHRAE Thermal Comfort Tool results, etc). Therefore, if you have occupied space with metabolic rate below 1.0 or above 2.0 in your project and ASHRAE Thermal Comfort Tool cannot cover that design parameter, then you need to show compliance evidence with other tools such as psychometric chart, PMV or PPD calculations, etc.
