It mostly has to do with the dust-holding capacity of the filter and how dusty the air is. Generally, when your pressure drop gets above 1.5 inches you need to change your filter. If there's a lot of plastering and sanding going on, then you might need to change the filter in less than three months, but if you're doing a "normal" amount associated with drywall taping only, then you should not have to change the filter more than once every 3 months.
We used to document filter changes, but now the table doesn't request this information. In fact, if you attempt to provide a replacement schedule, the form will not compute and hence you can't earn the credit. Is this the experience of others? I love the streamlined documentation, but the extent of documentation expected for many credits is now a bit vague. Would love to hear if my interpretation of what's expected for filter changes is correct, i.e. list of filters and date of final replacement only.
