I think the one you're looking for is for LEED-NC v2.2, on 1/10/2008, and can be found here. It's about a rental car facility.
It's probably a stretch as I haven't seen it addressed, but is there any possibility the same logic could apply to a car dealership where some of the extra parking capacity could be treated as inventory storage rather than parking in the traditional sense from a LEED standpoint?
Conor, I'd say there is a case for it but it's a stretch. I think the case would be stronger if the area in question truly looked different from regular parking, with cars parked bumper to bumper in adjoining rows so that individual cars can't get out. Most dealer lots, in contrast to that, have a lot of "inventory" parking but it just looks like a big parking lot.
Tristan, thanks for the thoughts. The project is currently waging a discussion with the town on whether the inventory spaces should count towards their overall parking (for % of ADA spaces, etc.) and it's looking like it might get a pass. I assume that bolsters our case, but from a design perspective it does still look like a parking lot... Have you or anyone else ever seen this addressed? Is it worth starting a new thread with a Car Dealership subject line? Rental car parking?
Hello Conor,
Did you have get a resolution regarding how to treat the parking of a car dealership? I have a project that will be creating new spots, but those spots will be used for inventory and not open for customer parking.
Thank you!
Courtney
