One of our recently completed projects obtained Lead Silver and part of the points were based on NC-2009 SSc4.3: and SSC4.4. The building manager is contemplating eliminating the LEV/Carpool parking spots due to the hassles of enforcing the parking requirement. I hate to ask this stupid question, but would loss of the LEV/Carpool parking spaces after certification cause them to lose their certification? Ethically, I would think so, but I have not been able to find anything about loss of certification for NC projects. Thanks in advance for your help.

There is no such thing as LEED de-certification. There are rating systems, including LEED for Existing Buildings, that have a recertification requirement. However, I do share your ethical concerns. Would losing these points change the certification level? Is the owner willing to implement another strategy, such as charging stations? Was the building manager part of the LEED planning process? Could another system for parking enforcement be developed?
Whatever is decided, if the building management does not support the credit, I would caution pursuing this credit for any future projects. I know some project teams see this as easy/cheap points, but in LEED v4 it requires a greater level of commitment.

Thanks Allison. Management was involved the process and committed to providing LEV/Carpool spaces per the credit requirements. The loss of these points would cause the project to no longer qualify for LEED Silver. Sadly, the project is complete, the LEED Silver plaque is hung, and no additional strategies are being pursued.
