I have a retail project, that is a makeup store, so the space is divided in two main areas, the first one is operation area (staff only) and second one is a store area (sales floor), on the store area is not estimated that visitors would dispose any waste therefore no recycling bins have been provided in that area, only in the operation area where the staff has access. The sales floor only has containers for trash originated from the use of the space (makeup try outs, qtips, cotton, etc). My question is if it is ok to not put separation bins at the sales floor?

If you have trash bins available, I think it is harder to argue that you shouldn't also be expected to have recycling bins on the sales floor. It seems debatable to me that reviewers would accept that you don't have other potential recyclables generated/discarded by the shoppers (for example, coffee cups/cardboard sleeves and water bottles that shoppers might carry in with them from other stores). Since you have trash bins, I could see them wanting you to also have a means for recycling any recyclables. To be safe, I would put out at least some recycling bins in the sales floor area. If aesthetics are a concern, maybe they could maybe located behind the makeup counters and the staff are trained to then collect and properly dispose of recyclables from shoppers?
