My name is Andrew Morris, and I am the Senior Manager for Policy and Programs at the Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE), a stakeholder-based 501(c)(3) organization with more than 500 member organizations dedicated to the efficient and sustainable use of water. AWE supports the improvements to the water efficiency category in LEED v5, and we recommend that LEED consider the following: (1) given the fact that many states already require efficient fixtures, consider adjustments to avoid overstating water savings or rewarding water efficient choices that would have happened anyways; (2) consider increasing the points available for leak detection based on the significant potential water savings; (3) consider increasing the points available for buildings that opt not to include an automatic landscape irrigation systems. Thank you.

I added a comment on Water Metering on the USGBC website, wanted to also share some of the many LEED User threads on this topic (indoor fixtures). The requirement to deduct minor process uses on the same subsystem is not realistic and the v5 language needs to be updated so it can no longer be interpreted as requiring teams to add potentially dozens of meters to separate things like drinking fountains and mop sinks.

My name is Paul Sambanis, and I am the Vice President of Sustainability at Sloan, a manufacturer of commerical restroom solutions. Sloan supports the improvements to the water efficiency category in LEED v5, however we recommend that LEED consider the following: 1) Further clarification of water metering and leak detection requirements for products installed. For example does the leak detection sensor data in real time vs user interface? Current closed by water vs Pressure loss over time in static line? Does it have detect general vicinity of leak is vs just somewhere in the plumbing line? For example water metering an estimated amount based on activations and time duration vs. measured consumption

Water efficiency- water reuse, water metering and measurements!
How will this be done as per house hold unit? The building type? Or at scale for instance LEED certification on cities and communities or individual certified building?
During flooding! How will a LEED certified project divert excess water to water catchment areas or how will flood water be managed especially outside the building?
