Has anybody tried this credit? Our client is OK with the commitment for buses, but they also need all of their school-owned vehicles to have an ACEEE score of 45. The only vehicles they own are full size pickup trucks primarily for landscaping and snow plowing. There are no ACEEE 45+ full size pickup trucks (or compact pickups for that matter). Has anybody sought an exception for work trucks? Thoughts on a conditional commitment to phase in compliant vehicles if they ever exist?
I'll also use this opportunity to share my dislike for ACEEE as a measure for this credit. It is a rating that comes out long after the cars come out so you can't use it when purchasing a new vehicle and consumers are unfamiliar with it so it doesn't lend itself nicely to signage. The USGBC had allowed via CIR some better options in previous versions of LEED. Sad to see they went back to ACEEE only in v4 or that there isn't a clear way for people to know they're buying something compliant at the time of purchase.
