LEED Online and IE11 Retirement

I opened IE11 (Internet Explorer 11) today, and saw a message indicating IE11 will be retired June 15th, 2022. While I have no personal attachment to IE11, it was the only internet browser I could consistantly get to open LEED Online credit templates on the actual website.

Has anyone found another way to be able to fill out LEED credit templates on-line? Or will we all need to download and then reupload the templates thereafter?

I have heard the USGBC/GBCI is working on a new LEED platform. What do you think the odds will be that it releases before June 15th?

I haven't vetted this yet, but my colleague who does a lot of our work in LEED Online sent me this: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/enable-internet-explorer-mode-windows-11. She said there's some manner of answer(s) in there that might help. Aley

In the USGBC's Customer Experience Survey Results 2021, issued yesterday, they addressed this topic - at least with a plan...Not quite tied to the June 15th IE retirement date though. https://www.usgbc.org/resources/usgbc-customer-experience-survey-results-2021 INVESTING IN LEED ONLINE A complete project plan for LEED online is underway,  which aims to increase performance and speed while addressing improvements to LEED Online forms and modernization of the LEED v4 and LEED v4.1 platforms and usability.   Today,  LEED v4.1 projects use HTML instead of PDF  forms,  allowing credit submissions to be quicker,  easier and compatible with any web browser.   All LEED v4 projects will have the same ease of use as LEED v4.1 projects,  which will be delivered in two phases by the fourth quarter of 2022. The first phase (to be delivered in the second quarter of 2022) will provide HTML  forms for new LEED v4 registrations,  and the second phase (to be delivered by the end of the fourth quarter in 2022),  will enable HTML  forms for all remaining LEED v4 projects. Since the sunset date for LEED 2009 certification is approaching soon,  we are not planning to migrate LEED 2009 PDF  forms to HTML. We encourage LEED 2009 projects to take advantage of the offline form functionality currently available for use.  LEED 2009 projects can use offline forms if they encounter PDF/browser compatibility issues.

Thanks for the link, Erica. Of note in that same release is a small section on upcoming resources...which sound a lot like what LEEDuser offers (minus the interactive part). Nadav/others, what impact or relationship will this have with the LEEDuser forum? "ACCESSIBLE LEED GUIDANCE USGBC is working to make LEED guidance simpler and more accessible. Coming in the second
quarter of 2022 is a new help center complete with new resources, and a brand new FAQs tab in
the LEED credit library. The new FAQs will help LEED project teams find information they need.
We will also be adding new resources to the credit library including sample documentation and
reviewer tips to make credit submittals easier.
We heard from many project teams that they are looking for self-service and more publicly
available guidance. We will be publishing previously unreleased guidance that clarifies guidance
and offers detail on compliance options. We will be updating and releasing new guidance
quarterly starting in the spring. Additionally, a new team at USGBC will be reviewing LEED
guidance to ensure clarity and inventory."

Thanks for flagging that, Emily! We have more questions than answers on that too. We're working to learn more and figure out what this means for LEEDuser moving forward.

Especially interested in the "guidance that clarifies guidance."   :)

Now that we are officially in a post-IE11 world, how is everyone's LEED Online going? I turned on the Edge IE11 mode (based on Aley's earlier post), but am still told I have an incompatible browser. I can't open the non-html Forms within LEED Online. It appears as though my only option is to download the forms and then reupload them.

Sara, we are in the same boat. All of our V4 project forms are only able to be modified by downloading the forms. Old projects (v2009) forms are still working as are newly registered projects. Seems like we'll need to wait for the form updates later this year for all of the forms to be transfered to HTML. Hoping someone else has found a work around for this.

Thanks, Meredith. I reached out to LEED Online Technical Assistance and got the below response. In some experimentation, I find using Edge in IE mode works the best for me, even though I need to still download the pdf-based forms. I also set my default pdf reader to Acrobat Reader DC to ensure the forms were opened in that program. My typical default is Bluebeam, and the forms are all crazy in Bluebeam.  Greetings of the day!                                                                          Please check out the article and video of How to document LEED credits offline. https://www.usgbc.org/articles/how-document-leed-credits-offline https://youtu.be/8CdVzNWWPJU Please make sure you edit and save the forms in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC application, not in Bluebeam. The offline form functionality is only a temporary solution while we are building the HTML based forms for v4 rating. End of year 2022 (phase 2 launch),  all existing v4 projects will be migrated from Adobe to HTML forms which includes their data, attachments everything ported to the HTML version, so from then on all v4 customers old and new will be experiencing their form documentation in a web based. This will completely eradicate the issues customers have been experiencing. Hence this offline form feature is a temporary solution while we work on the larger piece as we wanted the business to continue without any roadblock.
