Norma, you don't specify but I assume this is a LEED-NC certification?
If there is an official policy about this, I am not aware of it. I think you should be fine because the LEED certification was for the design and construction of the building, and that's not really going away. Ideally you would be enrolled in LEED-EBOM and following its requirements. If that's not the case, you could stay within the spirit of LEED by following the LEED-EBOM requirements for alterations. See the EBOM portion of this site, and relevant MR and IEQ credits, for more on that.

The project is certified Platinum under LEED NCv2.2.
Thanks for the info, i am surprised nothing has officially been documented by USGBC for these circumstances.
We will follow LEED EBOM protocol for this project. Thanks!

We have a similar situation. We are investigating the possibilities of some renovation work. At the smallest it would be a connector from a second story walkway/hall over to an existing escalator platform. At largest it could be 8,000 sf of new second level floor space used for storage area or meeting room. The total facility size is 881,000 square feet. This amounts to less than 1% of the total faciility. I believe the project would just require us to follow the LEED EB requirements for alterations, as we are within the 1-5 year documentation period. There is another thought that it would be a new submittal under LEED CI. This is not a "tenant finishout". The facility owner is in charge of the renovation and while that area would be unaccessible during construction the building would not close. Please advise, also.

Camala, if you still have this question, it would be a good one to post to our rating system selection forum.
