Neil, I asked this question to our guest expert Mara Baum (who would know) a couple weeks ago, and she said:
I last asked in August, at which time I heard that the changes (updates to v3) had gone from the committee to the USGBC for final review. My contact on the committee thought at the time that it would be out by now for public comment.
Anyone have any more up-to-date information?

Neil, as you might have heard, LEED for Healthcare is out for a second public comment period.

Does anyone have any information? I see that the last public comment period ended in May. Why does this process take so long? Thanks.

Now that the second public comment period is closed, I expect the LEED for Healthcare committee will take several months to review the comments and work on taking things to the next stage, with the participation of other key LEED committees such as the LEED Steering Committee. The timeframe on developing LEED for Healthcare has been a bit over the top (no offense), but in fairness, all this consensus-based standards development really does take time, and these folks are mostly volunteers with USGBC staff support.
