LEED building uses Existing building's entrance

A new, LEED warehouse addition is planned for an existing bldg. Because it will use the existing building's entrance, preferred parking will be located outside the LEED boundary close to the existing entry and signed for use by the LEED building's occupants. Does this make sense?

Preferred parking can be outside of the LEED boundary, but will need to be spaces with the shortest walking distance to the main entrance(s) (after accessible parking). Please keep in mind that you will need to meet the 5% preferred parking for ALL parking provided, unless spaces are assigned per project. LEED Interpretations 5147 and 10202 have additional information on having preferred parking outside of the LEED boundary.
