To meet this credit, the LEED AP needs to be a "principal participant"—someone like the architect, engineer, or LEED consultant to the project.

Is it possible for a LEED FELLOW to count for this credit? Asking for a friend...

A LEED Fellow must continue to maintain at least one 'LEED AP with specialty' credential.
So as long as the LEED Fellow has the specialty credential that is applicable to the rating system (e.g. LEED AP BD+C working on a project pursuing LEED for New Construction certification) then it can contribute to the LEED AP innovation point. The credit requires an upload of the LEED AP certificate not the LEED Fellow certificate.
hope this helps.

It helps, but not in the direction I was hoping :)
We have an ID+C project but all of us in the firm are BD+C APs.

LEED v4.1 ID+C updated the guidance to allow either LEED AP ID+C credential or LEED BD+C credential to count towards the LEED Accredited Professional Innovation point. You could achieve this point by upgrading to LEED v4.1 for the entire project or just for this point.

Hey Douglas, Where did you get this information? According to the v4.1 guide it says at least one principal participant must be a LEED Accredited professional with specialty appropriate for the project. If you could pass along the info to me that would be awesome! Thanks!

Robert, you'll need to review the language within the downloadable ID+C v4.1 reference guide dated january 2019. This states that either a LEED AP ID+C or LEED AP BD+C can achieve this credit. The online credit library misstates the requirements. (I also spoke with GBCI on this....the reference guide is correct, online version is wrong) Hope this Helps!
