Hello All,
I have passed my LEED Green Associate exam a couple of weeks ago (193/200), and now I have to decide whether or not I should do the LEED AP exam straight away.
I dont have any LEED experience and my manager already told me I should be getting a chance to work with LEED projects only after 09/2019, however, he is willing to pay for the LEED AP exam now and any study material as well.
So, can you (experienced professionals) give me an honest opinion on whether it is the best option to do the AP exam now while the Green Associate prep I did is still fresh or it is better to wait to get some LEED experience first??

I would definitely recommend it - especially if you won't be dealing with LEED between now and the LEED projects. You'll want to have your AP when you go into the projects because it will show that you have the knowledge about how different aspects of the project need to be approached to incorporate sustainable practices and LEED.
I would recommend getting an online course that you can study at your own pace or doing a single or two-day in person class. The AP exam is more technical and goes far beyond the Green Associate knowledge base, but that core knowledge is definitely helpful.

I recommend to give the exams LEED AP now and not to wait. So you will be ready for the projects!
Good luck

There is no requirement to take on the LEED AP exam except a valid LEED Green Associate.
Many people wait 1-2 years before expiring the LEED Green Associate and putting the work to upgrade to LEED AP rather than CE hours. You can learn more how to prepare for the LEED AP with this simplified training
