CI-v4.1 IN102:LEED Accredited Professional

LEED AP BD+C on a CI project

The credit requirements state that, "At least one principal participant of the project team must be a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) with a specialty appropriate for the project."  As a LEED AP BD+C, it seems I have a specialty appropriate for the project, especially since many of the credits are the same.  Does my involvement allow us to earn an innovation point, or do we need someone that's LEED ID+C?

Thanks,

Josh

Hello Joshua,  For LEED CI projects,  you will need participation of someone with LEED ID+C credentials only.  The v4.1 Beta Guide states - There are no substantive changes to the credit requirements; refer to the LEED v4 reference guide.  The V4 Reference Guide states -   Step-by-Step Guidance Step 1. Engage LEED AP with specialty Identify a project team member who is a LEED AP with specialty, or engage a LEED AP with specialty to support the project and participate in the certification process.
  • Select a team member with a LEED AP Interior Design & Construction (LEED AP ID&C) credential.
  • The LEED AP with specialty identified for this credit must have an active credential at the time of certification review (see Further Explanation, Maintaining a LEED Credential).
  • LEED APs without specialty (legacy LEED APs) do not qualify for this credit
So, its clear you need someone with ID+C credentials.  Thank you!

I was told that LEED v4.1 version of this credit can involve anyone with any LEED AP specialty to pursue this credit under the CI rating system.  It was a question I asked in the forum page of the LEED v4 version of this credit, and someone answered it a such.

Hi! Yes, if you will substitute LEED AP credit to v4.1- you can use your LEED AP BD+C credential.
