NC-v4 MRc1:Building life-cycle impact reduction

LCA & EPD Review

Hi all,

I am researching LCA/EPD and have a question concerning:

- I should have my LCA/EPD reviewed or verified by a third-party before LEED application.

- I can submit my LCA/EPD in LEED application and USGBC will review/verify them.

Which one is right?

Thanks and have a good day.

Hello Dũng, I believe your question refers to MRc2 Building product disclosure and optimization - environmental product declarations. An EPD needs to be third-party verified prior to publication. For MRc1 option 4, you can use One Click LCA as all our datapoints are pre-verified. We include a comprehensive database of EPD and generic datapoints. I hope this helps.

Hello Dung, First you need to have your LCA report verified by a third-party (an LCA expert you were not involved in the LCA) as per ISO 14040.  As soon as you EPD report is ready, the next step is to select your Program Operator such as CSA, UL Environment, SCS Global to approved and publish your EPD. An EPD should be compliant to ISO 14025 and needs to be third-party verified prior to publication.  I hope this helps and have a good day!
