My project is an Investigation Center which has laboratories.
The lavatories found in the lab area (chemistry) should be considered in this credit? If considered, should I count them as public or private?

Hi Vanessa, lab area lavatory faucets should be included in this prerequisite and categorized as public. Private lavs are those in a residence, hotel/motel, dormitory, or private room in a hospital/nursing home. This is clarified on page 275 of the Reference Guide.

Note that according to the Reference Guide p 274, laboratory sinks are excluded if they're "regulated for medical or industrial purposes," which we have interpreted in the past to mean non-hand-washing purposes. If you are using the sink to fill a 500 ml laboratory vessel, it doesn't matter what the flow rate is, your vessel will use the same amount of water (500 ml). If the sink is used to rinse out items or wash hands, then it falls under the definition Trista mentions above.
