Checking in to see if any of you have had good job site success with plastic water bottle recycling. Due to the LBC recycling requirements, we have to source separate onsite, and we're trying to has a separate plastics bin. For the most part, water bottles is going to be on of our biggest contributors.

Hey Mike,
Even better, try avoiding plastic water bottle usage altogether? If your jobsite can accomodate logistically, you could run a potable water line to some water fill stations and have workers bring their own bottle or at least start reusing the same plastic bottle. Would probably give you brownie points from ILFI too.
Mark's idea is a valid one, and one we have been trying to implement on some of our jobs, but there are still many hurdles with implementing this. Starting with OSHA/Safety requirements around the cleanliness of the vessel and needing to provide a vessel, otherwise we don't meet the OSHA standard of supplying "potable clean drinking water" to our laborers. Without providing the vessel provided, how can you say you are giving jobsite teams the water they need? There are many steps to a "No Water Bottle Site" and i'm happy to discuss further if you'd like some shared lessons learned. With full caveat that we haven't yet figured out the perfect solution but are definitely trying.

Jenelle,
For our plastic water bottle-free jobsites, we offer reusable waterbottles to workers who do not have their own.
Thanks,
Emi
Hi all,
Agreed with Janelle, OSHA drinking water requirements make it tricky. Especially on the larger job sites where multiple water stations are necessary and it's unlikely they can connect to water utilities. There are a lot of sanitation requirements and cleaning each water station (like this one) on a daily basis is labor intensive and in turn, pretty costly.
On our LBC project, we provided each trailer employee with a re-usable water bottle and we do not order plastic water bottles for the trailer. We also provided re-usable water bottles for our field staff with one fill station located at the site trailer. This station is filtered water hooked up to water utilities, so it doesn't require daily cleaning. Here's the one we used: https://www.naturawater.com/. We still need to provide water bottles for field employees, but we believe we order less since we provided a re-usable option.
