NC-v4 EQc2:Low emitting materials

Is it possible to comply with furniture evaluation category by submitting only the furniture laboratory report?

Is it possible to comply with furniture evaluation category by submitting only the furniture laboratory report?

The laboratory report demonstrates that the furniture was tested in accordance with ANSI/BIFMA Standard Method M7.1–2011.

The laboratory that conducted the tests is accredited under ISO/IEC 17025.

Hi Olga, In LEED form, there is a statement that we need to provide manufacturer or testing documentation. In LEED guide page 674, the examples of product information documentation are third-party certification and testing reports. However, LEED Submittal Tips clearly states "furniture emission evaluation certificate". So it will be better if you prepare the certificate as evidence. Furniture emission evaluation certificate must include the following:
  1. Confirmation that the items have been tested in accordance with ANSI/BIFMA Standard Method M7.1–2011
  2. Confirmation of compliance with ANSI/BIFMA e3-2011 Furniture Sustainability Standard, Sections 7.6.1 and/or 7.6.2. Items compliant with only Section 7.6.1 may only contribute half of their cost and the calculator does not take this reduction automatically.
Please note that documentation submitted for furniture must indicate the modeling scenario used to determine compliance (LEED guide page 661). Documentation may include URLs to product information, cut sheets, MSDS, etc.
