Dear All,
In what relates to internally illuminated signage, according to Guide’s Setp by Step, compliance with this credit can be evaluated by means of:
- measurement of the sign’s maximum luminance, or
- simulation through a calculation software.
We are evaluating the possibility of using the measurement method (point 1. above). In this case, does this measurement need to be performed by an independent/certified entity? In any case, could you please clarify if there are any requirements related with the measurement procedure?
Thank you in advance,

I do not know of any requirements for this measurement. If you are signing your name onto this credit for submission, you are claiming all measurements were done correctly. You or someone you trust can take the measurement. There is no process for certification of this measurement. If the reviewer challenges you, describe how you took the measurement and with what tools.

Another approach is to put the luminance limits in the specfications for the signage. That way you put the responsibility on the sign fabricator/supplier to provide a sign that will not exceed the limits. You could require that the fabaricator certify that the signage complies.
