Healthcare-v2009 MPR3:Must use a reasonable site boundary

Interior Renovations and Non-Contiguous Parcels as Part of LPB

We have a very large existing facility registered under LEED-CI which will be partially renovated and partially updated. Specifically, interior portions of each floor--but not all spaces on these floors--will be updated such that our LEED Project Boundary will have non-contiguous parcels on each floor and thru-out the entire building. To give you a sense of scale, the renovated portions total amount to about 32% or so of the total GSF of the entire building. All renovated areas WITHIN these non-contiguous parcels will of course meet the compliance requirements of all prerequisites and the targeted credits. To be clear, we do not plan to bring the rest of the building--those portions OUTSIDE of the LPB--up to compliance with the prerequisites and targeted credits. (Sorry, just wanted to state the obvious to be sure.) Do you anticipate any problems with this kind of LPB made up of non-continuous parcels over several floors--and all part of one application or certification filing? Thank you!

Brooks, Take a look at the MPR Supplemental Guidance document for MPR #2 specifically: http://www.usgbc.org/ShowFile.aspx?DocumentID=6473 Pages 18-20 give good examples of certifying multiple, non-contiguous parts of one floor (such as the academic building with only the labs undergoing an alteration) under LEED CI. The instructions on the bottom of Page 19 explain how to address your multiple areas under certification and the requirements for demarcation.

Very very helpful--I appreciate it immensely!

For your reference, LEEDuser has the MPR Supplemental Guidance posted for each MPR, above on our Bird's Eye View tabs. A lot easier than looking up the PDF every time!
