Industry Decarbonization Opportunity: Your firm to sign-on to US DOE letter Heat Pump Water Heaters

Green Gurus –

Clark Brockman brought to our attention an important and impactful opportunity to advance building decarbonization through the US Department of Energy’s proposed rulemaking around water heater efficiency, advancing adoption of heat pumps, while still providing exceptions (and efficiency targets) for electric or natural gas applications as necessary. This opportunity, and specific language to support it, was provided to us by Geoff Wickes, an emerging technology product manager for NEEA (Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance), who advised us that having architects, engineers and contractors come out in favor of the rulemaking could be beneficial and consequential for US DOE.  Accordingly, Clark, Kjell Anderson and myself are organizing this collective action within the Green Guru network to get as many firms as possible to sign on to this letter, advocating to improve water heater efficiency standards and increase adoption of heat pump technology.

Any last signatories? I think it’s relatively low risk to sign on for higher efficiency equipment standards. -Kjell F

Thanks for the prompt Kjell - SERA is now on the list. Question: Are there plans for a social media follow up? Building Green could develop the post that we all cross-promote, or any one of our firms could do it, but it seems worth getting out into the public realm given all of the great firms that have signed on.
