Hello,
I am seeking feedback for Office space which occurs in a volunteer Fire Station. The Office space will primarily be used after 5pm.
1. Would this room be included in the daylighting calculations?
2. Would you recommend including a narrative when submitting the documentation for spaces not used during the daytime, but generally considered regularly occupied spaces?
3.The same question applies to a kitchenette serving the Day room.
Thank you.

The office needs to be included but the kitchenette can be excluded. With 8.1, it is not based upon occupancy time, but whether the activity of the space is or is not hindered by daylight. The kitchenette is like a break room which can be excluded from the calculations. A narrative explaining why any regularly occupied spaces is excluded must be submitted.

Depending on where your project is, there will be hours of the day after 5 pm with daylight. Though this might be a challenge, I don't think the GBCI will think it worthy of an exclusion.
