Our project is mixed use, roughly 1/3 retail, 1/3 residential and 1/3 hotel. We want to apply for Innovation for the use of Smart Home systems in the residential part. A BMS will be used for other parts of the building.

The manufacturers of smart home systems claim the benefits, including reduction in energy consumption based on allowing remote monitoring and control of the energy using systems within the home, creating setting scenarios based on time of day, lighting levels leaving the house, etc.

One of my concerns is that the smart home system is only for a portion of our project. Has anyone had success with LEED in claiming Innovation for the use of smart home systems?
