The LEED requirements state IAQ must occur "after construction ends and before occupancy..and retail projects may conduct the testing within 14 days of occupancy." Can someone explain the retail projects piece? Where is this coming from? If the project is not a retail project, can the IAQ test happen within 14 days of occupancy?

Hi Theresa,
I don't know why retail projects have different requirements.
I'd say the "within 14 days of occupancy" is permitted for retail projects only.

Here’s a clear and concise response:
For retail projects, IAQ testing must be done within 14 days of occupancy according to LEED requirements. This timeline allows for any potential off-gassing or other issues to be addressed before the space is fully occupied. For non-retail projects, the IAQ test should be completed after construction ends but before occupancy, without the 14-day window restriction. This ensures the indoor air quality meets standards before people move in.
Hope this clarifies the process!
