CI-v4 LTc5:Reduced parking footprint

How to apply base ratios for non-specified usage type?

For a laboratory / office building, how do you apply the baseline? It appears that you pro-rate the usage by area of each space type, but laboratories are not a listed usage type. Can we assume it is similar to another usage? If so, what would you recommend?

Hi Jonathan, Yes, that's correct. You should apply the parking guidance based on the usage types present in the project. While the cited parking reference is one of the more comprehensive resources, it doesn't include every use type. It is reasonable to apply the guidance for other similar use types, as provided in the table. In this case, without knowing much about the laboratory's operations, I would say that medical dental office building is a good replacement-- so 4.5/1,000 ft2 (4.8/100 m2)
