Historic District vs Historic Building

Has anyone had success obtaining this credit with a building within an historic district? Our building is part of an historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but not on its own.

The Reference Guide allows contributing buildings within a historic district to be used in Option 1 of this credit. "Maintain the existing building structure, envelope, and interior nonstructural elements of a historic building or contributing building in a historic disctrict. To qualify, the building or historic district must be listed or eligible for listing in the local, state, or national register of historic places."
