We recently received an email from two high school students in Indianapolis with some great questions about construction waste management. If you're interested in helping these budding SCLers with their research, let me know and I'll send you Gabriela's email address:

Hello,
My name is Gabriela Pallikan, and I am a high school student at PPHS in Indianapolis. I am working with my partner, Shania, and we are doing a research project on the negative impacts of construction material waste and how to reduce that waste.
I think you would be valuable in providing insight by clarifying the problem, help identifying the root causes of construction and demolition waste, and providing insight on possible solutions. Your article about dealing with construction waste was very helpful in understanding how to combat construction waste, and I believe your knowledge would be tremendously beneficial to our research project. Would you mind answering any of the following questions?
- What is the main cause of construction materials being wasted?
- What materials are the most often wasted?
- What variables determine which materials are used during construction?
- What happens to materials that cannot be reused?
- How do they affect the environment?
- Which materials are the most harmful for the environment, and which ones have the least negative impact?
- What is the best way to dispose of materials?
- What makes a material sustainable?
- What has already been done to manage material waste?
- How successful have these attempts been to reduce waste?
