Here is the REPORT from the 2019 Small Firm SDL Summit!

We are excited to share the REPORT from the 2019 Small Firm SDL Summit held in Las Vegas on June 5th. Take a look and use this forum to post questions and comments that will allow us to engage our new members as we continue the valuable conversations begun at the Summit. As you will read in the introduction, we know that collectively small firms make up most of the architecture profession and that we represent a huge, and largely untapped, opportunity to transform the practice of architecture into a force for sustainable and regenerative communities. We can learn so much from each other on how to be more effective in driving and steering that transformation. Together we can be a force for positive, far-reaching change!

Thanks BuildingGreen team for putting together this summary report. I haven't had a chance to reach out to this network recently but have been recalling our shared “striving” sensibility! Today I had a ‘small firm SDL win’ when I got closer to convincing project managers to get proposals for performance energy models of our multifamily buildings (which typically only get a Title 24 compliance model report). Seems like we may restructure our fees to make this standard practice. Small (overdue) steps. Striving. Thanks for the encouragement… anyone else have an ‘achievement’ to add to pages 9-10 since the report came out? that's great gwen! yes we similarly recently realized that if we just add scope to energy consultant RFPs, it isn't questioned. only added scope gets scrutinized :) we increased the number of energy model runs in our standard RFP from 3 to 6 to give us some breathing room for doing analysis. We also recently baked in QII and some other on-site testing. below is a snapshot of our template: [image: image.png]
