I have a question about meeting exemplary performance for credit SS 7.2. The reference guide states that, " Projects may earn an Innovation in Design credit for exemplary performance by demonstrating that 100% of the project's roof area (excluding any mechanical equipment, photovoltaic panels, and skylights) consists of a vegetated roof system." If mechanical equipment is in a penthouse and the penthouse has a roof on it, does the roof of the penthouse count as "roof" and therefore need a green roof system on it. The penthouse roof would only be accessible by ship's ladder. Similar to the previous comment - roof pavers would be part of the green roof system, in order to allow access to the roof for maintenance, etc.

The exemption for mechanical equipment is intended for equipment actually sitting on the roof with no roof over it. For a penthouse roof, that should be a green roof system in the Exemplary Performance scenario.
