In order to comply with SSc5.1, green roofs must provide a diversity of native or adapted species that provide animal habitat. An intensive roof, where the depth of the growing medium is 6 inches or more, with six or more varieties of sedums or other plants that support the endemic wildlife populations of the site should be sufficient as USGBC spelled out Iin LEED Interpretation #10231, issued 10/1/2012.

Hope that helps!
