I am a little confused by your question. The term "green building" gets tossed around a lot these days and can mean different things to different people. If you are qualifying a "green building" as being one that is LEED certified, you would need to meet this prerequisite - so either showing no irrigation in the project boundary or demonstrating a 30% reduction in outdoor water use when compared to the baseline case (determined using the calculation provided for this credit). A reduction in outdoor water can be achieved by using native/adapted plants which require little or no irrigation and/or using an efficient irrigation system/contols. Rainwater can be used for irrigation to demonstrate a further reduction a gain points in the credit associated with this prerequisite.
