A question regarding sanded grout and fast set for ceramic tile. Our manufacturer is telling me that they do not need to be tested since they are cementitious chemistry and do not emit anything per CDPH Standard testing. Is this statement correct to comply with EQc2? Looking for confirmation on whether this situation falls into the Adhesives / Sealants applied on-site.

Grout is not mentioned in SCAQMD Rule 1168, so the only reasonable VOC limit one can use is 250 g/L for "Other." If they can provide a letter stating that since they're cementitous they don't have to test to meet CDPH, that would be helpful. It's unclear why grouts are included in this credit since they are cementitious, and I've commented on this rating system asking that it be removed, but to no avail.

I believe additives can be used for workability.
ie. Laticrete's 333 super flexible latex additive for use with Laticrete 317 thin set (tile mortar.)
And the 333 product does have VOC's.
Rule 1168 has a VOC limit for ceramic tile adhesive which means anything used like a thin set mortar to install ceramic or glass tiles.
