G6.5.3.1 -2 Pressure Drop Adjustment by Space

Hi Marcus Would like to check. My space has FA system fan, Recirculating Air Fan and also Exhaust air fan. Can I use the table for adjustments. My question is since Fresh air and exhaust air are almost same volume of air, can it be double accounted to compute the baseline fan power. For baseline, will there be 3 fans also and how do I account the adjustments for each. I am quite confused in this. I hope its not like, any number of fans we can use while ASHRAE baseline only allows 2 fans one for FA and one for Room Air. Thanks for clarfiying

All the fans associated with a particular system are already included in the Baseline fan power calculations. You use the supply air flow cfm only to determine the fan power. The flows are not double counted. The pressure drop adjustments are applied to the Baseline fan power calculation if the Proposed system has that feature. There is an exception for heat recovery to this rule. You should proportion the Baseline fan power similar to the proportions in the corresponding Proposed system.

Hi Marcus Correct me if am wrong. Does this mean, I need to have only 1 Baseline Fan Section (System 8 lets say I have). So ideally I take the total volume flow and based on cav/vav I have the kW. Further if there are any additional components as per G6.5.3.1 we add up all to this only baseline fan as an adjustment and get the number is it? Let me know if am right. Thanks Much

I think you are right. You should be able to confirm that you are doing it right with this calculator. http://www.usgbc.org/resources/minimum-energy-performance-calculator
