NC-2009 IEQp1: Minimum IAQ Performance
Hello,
We are designing a building with an underground fuel tank room for back up electricity generator. Should this fuel tank room meet any of the exhaust rates from ASHRAE 62.1? Under which occupancy category this type of room should be considered?.

Hi Manuel. It is not obvious to me what type of room it should be because I do not know where the room is located or what tit is being used for. If there is a standard that dictates the design of that type of use, use the ventilation rates in there. If not, then use the ones from the most closely related room type in ASHRAE 62.1. Make sure to look through the ASHRAE handbooks for different room ventilation scenarios.

Hi Manuel,
A more detailed description can be useful in order to understand how to classify the room. What does the local regulation requires for ventilation?
For LEED purposes, if this room is not occupiable, maybe we can classify it under "Storage rooms, chemical" in ASHRAE 62.1-2007's table 6-4. So this space would have minimum exhaust rates.
