NC-2009 MRc7:Certified Wood

FSC x PFEC

I am working for a project in Barcelona which is pursuing LEEDv2009 certification. We are facing a huge difficulty to find suppliers for the FSC certified wood and then we would like to replace it for PFEC certification avaiable in Europe, in order to achieve the credit MRc7 - Certified Wood. The LEEDv4 has launched an ACP approach that allows projects to use PFEC certification in order to acive the credit for Raw Materials, since this certification complies with ASTM D7612-10. However, we would like to know if it applies the same way for projects version 2009 under the credit MRc6 Certified Wood, since this credit no longer exists in version 4. Has anyone have experienced projects from version 2009 that achieved this credit by using 100% PFEC certified wood?

In a quick search for wood for construction materials in the FSC Certificate Database, I found 181 companies in Spain. Have you already used the FSC Certificate Database to connect with possible suppliers? If not, the site is at http://info.fsc.org/certificate.php. You can narrow your search to Spain and then to specific Products by searching for what you need under Level 1. Have you also tried reaching out to the FSC National Office in Spain? The contact person is Gonzalo Anguita, g.anguita@es.fsc.org. I imagine he could also probably help you all locate FSC certified suppliers.

Thank you Lori! But regarding the PFEC application under this credit, does anyone has an ideia?

I believe, if LEEDv4 allows PEFC certified wood, then there might be no issue in V3 as well. There is an alternative ACP is available at USGBC site for v3 as well for this credit.
