Schools-NC-v4 EQc8:Quality views

Fritting Question for Quality Views

LEED v4 states that “View glazing in the contributing area must provide a clear image of the exterior, not obstructed by frits, fibers, patterned glazing, or added tints that distort color balance.”

What does the phrase “not obstructed” mean to LEED?  Does this mean that any fritting at all is not allowed within the eye level of glazing, or is a lighter density of fritting allowed in this credit if it does not obstruct views through it?  If a lighter density of fritting is allowable to acheive this credit, what percent coverage can the fritting not exceed?

Basically, you have to have clear glass. If your fritting is within within the view plane, between 30 and 90 inches, then it is an obstruction. If you have a few dots here or there you might be ok.
