NC-v4 EQp1:Minimum indoor air quality performance

Fresh air inside a manufacturing building - specific rooms

Hi,

We are currently working for a LEED project - industrial building creating petfood - under NC V4 scheme. We are facing some difficulties to understand wich rooms need fresh air and following which type of room according to ASHREA 62.1-2010. We have this kind of following areas, occupied according to LEED definition :

Grinder room ; bin washing ; thawing room ; dryer area ; bin storage ; raw material receiving ; ingredient preparation ; liquid production...

We would like to know if there are some rules to exclude some typical area which need some exausts, and if need to consider these areas only as general manufacturing areas.

Thanks in advance if you have some inputs for us !

BR,

Maxime

Hello Simon -  Did you receive any feedback on this credit?  I'm having a similar question about industrial facility enclosures in a larger processing space.

Hi Candice and Simon, ASHRAE requires to ventilate the whole building except non-occupiable spaces. In the projects that I've worked on, the LEED reviewers adviced to consider "non-occupiable" those spaces that are expected to be occupied less than 15 minutes per day I hope this helps,
