NC-2009 IEQc4.1:Low-Emitting Materials—Adhesives and Sealants

Fire Stopping Sealants

I am currently tracking the LEED Data for a construction project I am on. I am reviewing the firestopping submittal and this includes some 3M firestopping sealants. How would I classify these sealants and what VOC limits would they have? I can't seem to find anything specific on this type of sealant in the LEED language.

Hello, If the Firestopping is a sealant such as firestopping caulking or foam, it is classified as an Architechtural Sealant - max VOC 250 g/l (Rule 1168) There are also fire-retardant coatings listed in Rule 1113 Clear - Max 650 g/l Pigmented - Max 350 g/l Good luck!
