Is there precedent for achieving this credit with financial support for organizations other than NFWF or Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS)? There are many well-respected land trusts making significant impact toward habitat preservation, it seems surprising that LEED would single out only 2 that projects can donate to.

I was going to suggest using the LEEDv4 as an alternate compliance path, but the list of v2009 to v4 credit substitutions doesn't include this credit. Odd, since the v4 requirements seem to me more stringent than the Pilot Credit, and also offers a more local approach. Has anyone had experience with this?

Have anyone already doccumented the credit by financial support for Amazonas Sustainable Foundation (FAS)? How should we comprovate the Brazilia Real vs. US Dollar currency of the day which the donnation was made?

I just want to confirm if the requirement is $2.00 USD per square meter, or can we provide $2.00 CAD per square meter? If the project's local currency is CAD and a qualifying local land trust only accepts donations in CAD, do we need to factor in a USD currency conversion to confirm compliance with the requirements?
