NC-v4 EAc3:Advanced energy metering

Fans as an End Use

Hi, we'd like to make sure we are meeting the intent of the credit correctly when it comes to fans.

We use IES for energy models which typically breaks fans into meters for exhaust fans, interior local fans (e.g fan coils) and interior central (AHU).  We have about 5% of each so if we take the end use of "fans" are over the 10% but my understanding is we should follow the energy model end uses.

Any thoughts?  Thanks

I believe that the intent was that if the fan energy use overall is greater than 10% then it must be metered. You could play this game with many other energy end uses as well.

Thanks Marcus, am I correct that we can still derive the data via ECM controllers outputting power, VFDs etc and pull together at BMS?
