Will the reviewers accept a spreadsheet as a plumbing fixture schedule in lieu of the plans from the Construction Documents?

In LEED review comments I've been referred to the Water Use Reduction Additional Guidance document. I didn't know this was a required reference document.

Should I include bar sinks? What about mop sinks or janitor sinks? Swimming pools? Safety showers? Bidets? Tub spouts?

NC-2009 WEp1:Water Use Reduction—20% Reduction

Family restrooms?

In determining fixture groups, we have staff restrooms and public toilets; but, we also have one family restroom for visitors to the building. I can imagine that this will be used with a different frequency than the regular public restrooms, but my FTE calcs don't (and couldn't) account for those visitors who might want to use the family restroom. Has anyone run across this? Should I "ignore" it and simply treat it exactly the same as the public restrooms?

Joanna, it seems like the most straightforward and defensible approach is to treat it just like a regular public restroom.

I agree with Tristan. It does not matter how frequently one restroom is used over the others. The occupancy of the building determines frequency.

Hi Have a similar situation. However our (1) family restroom also has a children's toilet that has a 1.6GPF that the building owners are not willing to change. The building has four components, (1) Public Library, (1) City Health Clinic, (1) Private Health Clinic and (1) Rec Center. The family bathroom is only in the public library. How would I go about calculating the frequency that one toilet will be used? My initial idea is to get the library to estimate how many children they see a month that are small enough to use the children's toilet. But I worried that they won't have any way of determining. Does this seem like a fair path to proceed? Does anyone have any better ideas?

Heather, I am just speculating here, but most public libraries are under funding pressure and are constantly justifying their budgets to whoever pays for them. It seems likely they would know exactly how many young patrons they serve and could make an educated guess at average stay and frequency of bathroom use.
